‘Grey’s Anatomy’ star and competitive driver Patrick Dempsey’s 1965 fastback Mustang resto-mod is heading to the auction block. The car has been tuned and tweaked into a flashy collection trophy, and something of a then-and-now mythological beast…a classic ‘Stang and Cobra SVT hybrid that packs 420 horsepower under its hood.

The work on the car was undertaken by Panoz, a Georgia-based specialist. The company put 3,900 man hours into the build—two and a half years of shop time—and Dempsey contributed three hundred thousand dollars. A whopping great sum that resulted in the glossy, double-take-worthy daily driver you see below.

The cars that donated parts include the SVT Cobra, and also a more recent Mustang, an S197. The major drivetrain components—the supercharged 4.6L V8 and the T56 Tremec six-speed manual gearbox—came courtesy of the Cobra. The exhaust is unique to the build.

Dempsey eventually sold the car, and it eventually made its way to an owner in Utah.

The auction is currently running on Bring A Trailer.
