Kenya Barris—the creator of hit meta series ‘Black-ish’—has been on a bit of a spending spree since 2018, when he signed on the line with Netflix for $100 million. The comedian’s newest residential property is this brand new Cape in Studio City.

The house is located within the Colfax Meadows community. Until recently, the lot was occupied by a 1936-built home; it is unclear if the house was a down to the bones revision or a teardown. In any case, the home that stands on the .38-acre lot now contains many a contemporary interior design trope, and blends a wide-open living area with an East Coast sensibility that has been abstracted down to a glossy veneer of familiar hominess.

The house is a Crestron Smart Home. Amenities include a sunken living room and a double-door opening onto the pergola-covered patio in back. A pool, spa, and outdoor fireplace enhance the exterior living style.

Barris’ ‘Black-ish’ and ‘Grown-ish’ were both hit shows; both are still in production. His first Netflix series is ‘#BlackAF’.
