2021 Audi A3: Fun-Size Sedan

Following the A3 Sportback, Audi released in-depth information about the 2021 A3 this month. The Sportback variant won’t be making it to U.S. shores—at least not at this point—so the A3 sedan will have to do.

For the upcoming model year, the entry-level performance sedan is a little bit longer and wider, but the difference from the 2020 model year is negligible. There’s a little more headroom in the cabin, too—about half an inch. The car’s stance is more dynamic, though, and the augmented dimensions surely help.

The A3’s engine options for the European market include a 1.5L four-cylinder turbo, with the 2L probably destined for America. A seven-speed automatic gearbox is standard; a six-speed manual transmission may be optioned, good news for those who enjoy the satisfying complexities of driving a car with a stick; the auto is matched with a 48-volt mild hybrid system.

The cabin styling has been given a refresh, and looks youthful and performance-ready. Instruments and infotainment are designed around two touchscreens, one 10.1” and the other 10.5”. The new version of the Modular Infotainment Platform boasts software that’s far more capable than the outgoing version. Wi-Fi comes standard.

Pricing TBA.
