Rosie O’Donnell Offering New Jersey Estate at a Loss

In 2015, Rosie O’Donnell began listing a series of residences in the Northeast. The first to hit the market was a house in New Jersey up for sale for $7 million. A five-house compound in Upstate New York followed; O’Donnell put it up for sale for $11 million in late 2017, eventually selling at least one of the five connected properties.

The New Jersey property has been harder to see the back of, however, even with a price reduction in January of 2017, which dropped the ask to $5.9 million, and, barring an unlikely bidding war, made any sale a loss; O’Donnell purchased the Saddle River estate in 2013, for $6.4 million.

The 1920’s built manor is back, with a little bump in price; it is now asking $5.95 million. It features a sprawling design, and measures nearly 9,200 square feet. It begins with a hexagonal-shaped turret entry, and rapidly builds upon the aristocratic bearing of its exterior, with hardwood paneling, marble floors, and ornate ceilings—including a fresco-painted dome embellishment in the glass-heavy dining room.

Other details include a fieldstone fireplace, a marble fireplace in the wood-paneled media room, and a wet bar with stained glass panels. The master suite boasts a bedroom with an angular concept ceiling, and a very large bath.

The five acres of grounds are semi-forested, with formal landscaping, a guest house, and a kidney-shaped pool with a waterfall.
