Two-Time Stanley Cup Champion Brad Richards Lists Charming Traditional in Greenwich for $9M

Retired professional hockey player Brad Richards listed his estate in Connecticut this winter. The two-time Stanley Cup-winner is asking $9 million for the home.

Richards has owned the property for nearly three years. He paid $8.5 million for it in 2017.

The 1922-built traditional packs a lot of classic uptown Connecticut details in its 7,551 square feet; inside and outside, it comes off as entirely authentic. The brick exterior is dressed in understated mid-gray, and one wall has been occupied entirely by creeping ivy.

Richards and his wife renovated the interiors during their tenure of ownership, bringing a gray-scale palette to the living style that combines effectively with the warmth of the plank floors. The formal dining room has been finished in beiges, and opens to the grounds via two sets of French doors. The whole house boasts a similar airiness, though, and the master suite’s bedroom and bath offer the same spirit of space.

The estate’s exterior is marvelously evocative of a lost era, with lawns, forest, stone walls, and a paver drive and motor court sustaining an aristocratic largesse. A guesthouse and a pool help fill out the grounds.

Richards was a NHL player for fifteen seasons. He helped the Lightning and the Blackhawks take home the big cup.
