Girard Perregaux’s newest wristwear is a glistening and transparent piece; the case is nearly entirely fabricated from sapphire crystal. The design takes off from the watchmaker’s Quasar, which was unveiled last year, adding even more sapphire to the mix. It’s called the Quasar Light, and it’s being produced in a very limited quantity.

The construction of each case takes nearly 200 hours. The tourbillon is exceedingly complex, with 79 components; it is powered by a GP09400-1128 27-jewel caliber, with 60 hours of reserve power. The tourbillon completes a revolution every minute.

Girard-Perregaux will produce 18 examples of the limited-edition Quasar Light. The timepiece is priced at $294K.
