Comedian Pauly Shore listed his Los Angeles residence this winter. Mr. Shore is asking $9.5 million for the property, which boasts a very unique location.

The house caps a small promontory that is wedged between the Nichols Canyon and Hollywood Hills neighborhoods. The mildly precarious setting gives views—and the living style—an element of frisson; the effect is akin to a ‘floating house’, and the L.A. and ocean panorama that results is unusually fine, with little to disrupt it.

The exterior of the home sports an exterior walkway slash deck—in what appears to be African wood—for taking in those views, as well as a zero-edge pool for the illusion of merging with them. The house is a rambler, with vague allegiance to the Spanish style; square footage is estimated at ~4,500, and there are four bedrooms and four baths.

The interiors are modern, sporting tile, a white treatment, strident lines, and a lack of ornament. Matte-finished plank floors warm up in the shared living space a little; the kitchen and some of the baths display fairly recent updates. Interior/exterior flow is the key feature, and the home’s glass folds away at strategic points to combine indoor and outdoor living spaces. Amenities include a dry sauna and guest accommodations.

Pauly Shore’s interest as a filmmaker has yielded several features, including Pauly Shore is Dead. Pauly Shore Stands Alone was released in 2014; the film is a documentary about the performer, and the hazards of the showbiz life.
