Brie Larson’s holiday real estate lark didn’t only include a stop in Malibu, and a $3.4 million purchase of a very appealing stucco cottage high in the hills above the ocean. The ‘Captain Marvel’ actress also ventured into Woodland Hills, where she picked up a slice of 1960s suburban Americana for a bit more than $1.6 million.

If the Malibu house is the free spirit of the duo, the Woodland Hills house is its conservative sibling, an investment property dating to the middle of the decade that’s been given a fairly bland stem-to-stern overhaul in the past few years that has opened it up and allowed it to breathe a little. The interiors have received a treatment in grays, with distressed dark-finished hardwood adding subdued texture and warmth.

The 5-bed, 4-bath home’s architecture now allows for vastly improved interior/exterior flow, and living spaces open onto the outdoor living area as frequently as possible. Most appealing, however, is the multi-level outdoor deck complex, with a deck with fire feature, a spa, and a gazebo, all enhanced by a waterfall feature.

Larson won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her Role in Room.
