Emmy Award-winner David Chase picked up a Santa Monica residence this autumn for $6.675 million.

The 1931-built Mediterranean’s white stucco exterior is accented by a clay tile roof, and framed by the intense green of a privacy hedge and varied plantings, making for an invitational beginning.

The 4,748 square footer’s interiors develop as a nice balance of formal style and comfortable familiarity. The foyer features black-on-white tile that gives way to a curving staircase with an iron balustrade and hardwood treads; the living room boasts plank hardwood, a coffered ceiling, and a fireplace.

The home has been heavily renovated, and the shared living spaces are now contemporary Spanish-style. The kitchen and family room are open concept, with a step-up transition room leading to the outdoor living area—which is unusually fine. A pool, courtyard, and stucco demarcation wall are augmented by a rose-covered arbor and a grill station, with a rooftop terrace overlooking all.

Chase has seven Emmy Awards to his credit. Before creating seminal HBO hit ‘The Sopranos’, he worked on ‘Kolchak: The Night Stalker’ and ‘Northern Exposure’.
