Retired MLB player Jimmy Rollins accepted an offer of just under $10.6 million for his estate in Encino, California, this month. The former professional shortstop had been trying to sell the place for about ten months. He didn’t own it for long, and he didn’t sell it for a profit; according to public records, he shelled out $10.65 million for the property in January of 2018.

The house isn’t much older than that. It was built in 2017. It’s palatial outside and in; the exterior features a soaring symmetrical façade and flanking garage bays. Prominent supports, second-floor balconies, and horizontal massing in 3 distinct sections makes for an intense exterior impression.

The interiors of the home are as palatial in execution, beginning with a massive 2-story foyer that transitions into a double staircase—which rises beneath a domed ceiling accent—and ground level living spaces. Natural-toned hardwood adds a little down-to-earth texture to the living style.

The bedrooms are all ebullient spaces. The master receives a heavyweight fireplace, but opens to a terrace via a glass wall. The other bedrooms also feature outdoor spaces.

The property is designed around the pool and sunlounge, which sit courtyard-style between main house, guest house and cabana. A sports court, putting green and outdoor grill station and living/dining area are also included in the .6-acre grounds.

The buyer is eight-time Grammy Award-Winning songwriter and producer Philip Lawrence. He worked with Bruno Mars on his hit album 24K Magic, among other high-profile collaborations.
