Montblanc’s ‘Great Characters’ pens series continues the narrative via Walt Disney.
As in previous series entries, the company wanted to include as many milestones as possible for the homage. And, in the 3 models presented in the Disney collection, they do just that.
The Limited Edition pen finds Mickey Mouse providing the central theme, his colors and history—that is, Steamboat Willie—popping up amidst the series of Mickey likenesses that are sprinkled throughout the design, including in the resin cap. The pen also displays the Mickey Mouse Club emblem at the top of the cap, making owners members by default. The shape owes much to the Disneyland monorail.
The Limited Edition 1901 pen celebrates the animation technology developed by Disney and his company. The multiplane camera is featured in the lacquered cap, and the barrel is devoted to the first film to use the new camera, ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’, the 1937 masterpiece from Walt Disney Pictures. Mickey makes a cameo in the scanimation barrel.
Finally, the Artisan Edition 90 pen marks the culmination of the collection. Au 750 white gold and lacquer are the principle materials used. Disneyland is featured heavily, especially Tomorrowland, which was Disney’s crowning achievement at the park. Yellow gold accents adorn the pen, which also features Mickey and the Club emblem.
Prices start at $730.
