Michael Jordan Lists Utah Home for $7.5M

Legendary NBA luminary Michael Jordan listed his stunning retreat in the Wasatch Mountains with excellent timing: right before the snow falls, and a month before the holidays. The Charlotte Hornets owner is asking $7.5 million for the alpine getaway just outside picturesque downtown Park City, Utah.

The listing comes as Jordan’s Chicago home—which he’s owned since his long tenure with the Bulls—remains available on the market. The price of that house has been whittled down nearly a full 50% from its initial ask of $29 million, and couldn’t find a buyer at auction in 2013.

The Utah getaway is situated on nearly four acres in a golf community, and extends to 9,574 square feet. It dates to 2006.

It should fare better than the Chicago property. Material choices in the home are unusual, and impressively varied. The exterior boasts multi-colored stone walls and a copper roof to accompany its modern angularity, while the interiors unfurl in a nonstop travel-log of materials that includes bamboo floors, Swiss pearwood and ebony veneer cabinetry and shelving.

Modern architectural features include a winding glass catwalk, exposed steel beams, and an endless series of arches and geometric evocations that establish a fascinating interplay. Styles riffed on include craftsman and futurist, placing the home on the playful side of postmodern.

The exterior is as lovely, with multicolored stone patios and terraces, a zero-edge pool, and a fire feature. The hillside location offers views of the mountains and Park City.
