Audi A5 and S5 Get a Facelift for 2020

For 2020, the Audi A5 has received a number of subtle visual updates and new tech, but power remains unchanged, and there may be no hybrid 5 variant on its way to the U.S. for the next model year.

This despite the fact that Audi has invested hugely in the coming transition to ICE alternatives, specifically EVs. The automaker did release a press statement late last winter confirming A7 and A8 plug in hybrids, among others, are on the way for the 2021 model year. But, at this time, an A5 hybrid is only guaranteed as a European market option.

What is on the way to U.S. shores is an A5 that’s been rendered more svelte and even a bit sportier. The headlamps are narrower, a honeycomb grille has been added, and new sills make the design language more concise.

The A5’s updated MMI infotainment system features a 10.1” screen and improved communication and voice controls. It can process incoming information from the grid, respond and navigate accordingly, and even locate vacant parking.

Audi has yet to release pricing information for the U.S. Pricing for the 2019 A5 is ~$45K.
