British designer Robin Day’s iconic 675 Chair just received a modern update. Well, a whole bunch of updates, really.
Fifteen notable textile designers were invited to overhaul the famously functional and beautiful piece of furniture in their own unique style. Each modern artist was tasked with honoring yet transforming the furniture piece with the creation of a bespoke textile seat cover. The reason? The ‘A Day to Remember’ project.
Case Furniture, Heal’s, and the Robin and Lucienne Day Foundation partnered to create this unique opportunity for contemporary designers to show their stuff. In addition to honoring the work of Ms. Day generally, the project will culminate in an online auction of the fifteen chairs.
Sales will support the Robin and Lucienne Day Foundation, a charitable organization dedicated to the history and future of design in the U.K. The A Day to Remember project directs funds toward the development and support of young British artists.
