Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber List Malibu Beachfront Home for $7.5M

The residential real-estate investor duo of Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber picked up a new home in gated golf-city La Quinta this month. But they listed a portfolio property as well. The couple is asking $7.495 million for a residential property in Malibu.

Crawford and Gerber are no strangers to Malibu living—or the buying and selling of homes in the idyllic beach town. Late last spring, they sold a fairly magnificent, heavily-modified period Spanish-style beachfront on a quiet bluff in the surfside city, accepting $45 million to see the home into the Malibian sunset.

The beachfront home they’re currently selling is smaller, and its lot is house-sized; it’s packed in with the other upscale numbers in the familiar coastal profile of Malibu. It dates to the mid-1970s, and features an exterior that gets in a few SoCal-requisite Spanish design cues, but it adheres to no one style but beachfront. Call it a ‘Malibu Eclectic.’

Inside, the home is warm and easygoing, with vaulted or half-vaulted plank ceilings, built-ins, an off-white treatment, a bit of wrought iron, and an open-concept shared living area with views of the ocean defining the upscale cottage style; balconies take in the salty panorama a bit more directly. Familiar stuff to be sure, but it’s played well, and the home’s laid-back 1970’s vibe is pretty well intact—lacking the heavy earth-tones and the avocado- or mustard-toned kitchen, thank goodness. Ferns are still optional, though.

The four bedrooms and three baths culminate in a master suite that is enormously cozy. The private retreat gets a fireplace and a bath with a step-up jetted soaking tub, as well as a private terrace accessible via French doors.
