Maroon 5 lead singer Adam Levine recently parted with his 1955 Mercedes-Benz SL300 Gullwing. The iconic vehicle sold for $1.155 million at RM Sotheby’s Fort Lauderdale auction event.
RM Sotheby’s experts were spot on with their estimate; they forecast a selling price between $1 million and $1.4 million.
This particular SL300 started life with bright white paint, but now boasts a striking silver paint job. The interior was originally upholstered with blue leather. Black upholstery was installed in the 1990s, but Levine returned the cabin to its original color scheme during his tenure as owner. Otherwise, the car has been faithfully maintained; it has the same numbers-matching engine as when it first rolled off the factory floor.
Levine owned the vehicle for about six years.
