Norwegian musician-songwriter Paul Waaktaar-Savoy recently dropped $5.125 million for a Los Angeles-area home.

Waaktaar-Savoy—who is best known as a member of the new wave pop band A-ha—and his wife Lauren Savoy—also a composer and songwriter—are the new owners of the Venice contemporary pictured below. The home spans 11,000 square feet, and features many familiar contemporary design cues inside and out.

The five-bedroom, 6.5-bath new construction is set behind gates, walls, and lush greenery in order to offer plenty of privacy. Inside, wide-plank, natural-finished hardwood, recessed lighting, abundant glass, and a fairly minimal design sensibility prevails.

The living room features a vaulted ceiling, large windows, and a floor-to-ceiling fireplace set into a concrete accent wall. The kitchen stands out with sleek cabinetry, a huge kitchen island, and an entire wall of pocketing glass doors.

The property exterior works in a second-floor terrace off the master suite, as well as a swimming pool and pool house.

A-ha will embark on a tour later this year; it will coincide with the 35th anniversary of their classic hit, ‘Take On Me.’
