Zaha Hadid’s Miami Beach Condo Back on the Market As a $37K/Month Rental

Within months of selling at $5.75 million, Zaha Hadid’s South Florida condo is back on the market…albeit as a rental, at $37K per month.

The Miami Beach residence wasn’t easy to see off into the Caribbean sunset; initially, it had been marketed with an asking price of $10 million, a sanguine figure that stressed the associations of its Pritzker-winning former owner, who had the unit custom designed in 2009. By November 2017 it was asking $6.5 million, and finally sold about ten months later, in September of last year.

The home extends to 2,500 square feet, and boasts the signature taste of Ms. Hadid throughout, most notably in the playful use of sci-fi film references and 20th century futurism. There’s a gentle sense of humor involved in the composition, which augments the characteristic fearlessness and wry ebullience expressed by the architect in her living style: Hadid was not one to dwell on the past, at least not in her architectural expressions.

The unit extends to 2,300 square feet, and contains three bedrooms and four baths. It features marvelous views of South Beach and a wrap-around terrace. It was sold with its array of Hadid-designed furniture, which finishes the apartment’s custom and very personal feel.

Hadid passed away in the spring of 2016, leaving an extraordinary body of work that includes Miami’s One Thousand Museum; she called the South Beach condo home while she was engaged on the project.
