Floyd Mayweather Spends $10M on Palatial New Build in Las Vegas

Boxer Floyd Mayweather, Jr. may be settling into a new home in Las Vegas, but chances are the purchase of the extravagant property is strictly an investment. The veteran pugilist dropped $10 million for the grandiose sandstone complex only a year after buying big in SoCal.

Last September, Mayweather spent generously on a 15,000 square-foot home in Beverly Hills, handing $26 million to developer Nile Niami for the slickly renovated house on half an acre of extremely valuable land.

This home, too, is rather high-flown in its design aspirations. The property is a young one—it was completed earlier this year—and it is anchored by a postmodern villa that combines contemporary flash with substantial European-inspired architecture and materials. It’s a trophy home to be sure, and begins with a porte-cochere presided over by a massive diamond-shaped pendant fixture. Columns and a gilt front door add to the effect, and provide a preamble for a home that desires to be called magnificent, although it’s squeezed rather anxiously into a tight suburban lot.

The main house is but one of several buildings on the lot. The structures are arranged around a neo-baroque central courtyard anchored by a large central fountain; the landscaping looks a bit raw, as it hasn’t quite had a chance to fill in. The property is situated in the Queensridge community.

Professionally undefeated Mayweather retired from boxing last year.
