The Manhattan apartment that was the home of late celebrity chef and gastronomic adventurer Anthony Bourdain has hit the rental market. The unit—which is located in the Time Warner Center condominium building—is a two-and-two with spectacular views of the New York skyline and the Hudson river. It is currently available at $14,200 per month; the price reflects the apartment’s associations, naturally.

First stop? The kitchen, of course. But serious chefs don’t typically flaunt a flashy, extroverted ultra-contemporary dazzler for the locus of their alchemy; the results should always trump fashion. And the case of Bourdain’s kitchen is no exception. Just the fundamentals: top-flight equipment, and substantial stainless. A little marble, and some eye-candy cabinetry represent the extent of the cosmetics. Beyond that, a galley style with enough room to move around when inspiration strikes.

The apartment features matte-finished chevron floors, a master suite with a marble-clad bath, and enough glass to ensure that the 64th-floor views of the city and the river don’t go to waste. There are 1,283 square feet of living space, all told.

The unit is situated in the One Central Park building, which soars to eighty floors. Amenities include a private dining room and salon, cinema, and landscaped terrace.

Bourdain’s first book ‘Kitchen Confidential’ is occupation-lit of the best sort, and necessary reading for anyone working in a restaurant.
