R&B singer Usher has a confession to make: He’s sold his Alpharetta, Georgia, mansion for $1.5 million.

Interestingly, this property wasn’t simply a luxurious acquisition for the singer. In fact, it served as a symbol of the success he aimed to achieve when he was a young man. The Grammy-winning performer first fell in love with the home when he was just 13 years old. Eight years later in 1999, with early success achieved, he was able to purchase the residence for $1.2 million from music producer L.A. Reid.

Following his life-changing career success and high-end purchase, Usher made a number of changes to alter the atmosphere. In place of black marble are plenty of classic features like wrought-iron, shades of gray, herringbone-patterned brick, and natural wood accents. These design elements are especially on display in the living room, which features floating shelves and a rustic wooden mantel.

The kitchen has been updated since Usher’s early ownership as well, and now boasts a farmhouse sink, neutral marble countertops, rustic tables, and bench seating.

True to style, the home also features a fully functioning dance studio with a wall of mirrors and a great sound system. The backyard offers opportunities for fun as well with an outdoor kitchen and a swimming pool.

Notice the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter in the driveway; this confirms the shift from limo to luxury van among celebrities as we mentioned in previous pieces.

Usher is currently working on a new album.
