‘Blazing Saddles’ Director Mel Brooks Asking $135K/Month for Malibu Home

Mel Brooks is looking for a summer renter for his Malibu beach house.

Available for $135,000 per month in July and August, the ocean-front beach home is the ideal retreat from the bustle of Los Angeles. Brooks and his late wife, Anne Bancroft, paid just $515,000 for the 3,476-square-foot residence back in 1977.

Since then, the four-bedroom, six-bath Hamptons-style house has been beautifully updated and boasts an expansive combination living/dining room. The home’s cavernous layout features soaring open-trussed ceilings, shiplap, and matte-finished hardwood floors, giving it a relaxed, period beach-house feel.

The plentiful glass includes picture windows, sliding glass doors, and a series of skylights; the house is flooded with natural light. A 1920s-era brick living room fireplace adds texture. The kitchen updates bring in stainless steel and black granite.

The center of the home, though, is the expansive beachside deck which borders the beach. A built-in grill and space to tan means renters will enjoy plenty of comfort whether or not they venture onto the sand.

Actor, writer, producer, and director Brooks is best known for his seminal films “Blazing Saddles,” “Young Frankenstein,” and “The Producers.”
