Marisa Tomei has listed her apartment in Greenwich Village for $7.5 million. The actress has owned the unit since the 1990’s, making the change a significant one for the Oscar-winner.

The eleventh-floor combination unit is located in a pre-war residential building that has been a longtime favorite with celebrities. Tomei purchased the first unit around 1994, and had the opportunity to expand next door some years later. It measures a little more than 2,260 square feet.

One apartment became the home’s master suite. It features a wood-burning fireplace, beamed ceilings, a 200 square-foot dressing room and walk-in closet, and a terrace. The second now contains a large great room with another fireplace, a second bedroom, and a kitchen. Between the two spaces are a library and a home office, each with doors opening onto the master. There are two baths over all; both bedrooms are en-suite.

Tomei had the apartment professionally revised to achieve a lilting balance between contemporary alterations and period charm. The kitchen and baths are modern but unpretentious. The kitchen is small, but more cozy than compact, and utilizes subway tile and stainless; it features deco-inspired wall covering. The baths feature period-style fixtures.

The building was designed by New York architecture heavyweight Emory Roth. It was finished in 1931.

Tomei took home an Oscar for her portrayal of warm-blooded Brooklyn spitfire Mona Lisa in 1992’s ‘My Cousin Vinny.’ More recent roles include a lead in ‘Behold My Heart’; the film is due to be released later this year, and is directed by Joshua Leonard.
