Comedian Martin Lawrence has put his residence in Virginia up for sale with an asking price of $8.5 million. The home is situated in the Hunting Hill Farms neighborhood in Purcellville.

The main house—about forty years old, although renovated in 2004—certainly qualifies as a spawler. It extends to over 22,500 square feet of interior living space, incorporating a considerable accumulation of luxury amenities along the way. As far as recreational diversions, the home offers a broad spectrum: cinema with tiered seating and LED starling ceiling, an indoor pool and spa, an indoor basketball court, a large fitness room, and a two-lane bowling alley top the list.

The prevailing feel matches the setting, with pale-toned hardwood floors throughout, a prominent fieldstone fireplace, and a lot of glass for a good sense of continuation. There’s no well-defined style inside or out; plenty of light, an effective sense of scale, and the occasional concept ceiling tells the tale. The emphasis is on space, with vaulted ceilings, clerestory windows, skylights, and a generally open-concept layout. The master suite is a generously proportioned one: lots of space, a fireplace, a sitting area, sliding glass doors, and a similarly proportioned bath with steam shower. There are five bedrooms and ten baths all told.

And the property exterior? 116 acres of breathing room. The barn on the property indicates the possibility of equestrian ranch potential here.

Lawrence’s recent roles include a supporting part in the upcoming ‘The Beach Bum’; the film also features Matthew McConaughey, Isla Fisher, Snoop Dogg and Jimmy Buffett.
