Christie Brinkley’s temporary move from Long Island to Manhattan has her sitting pretty in a fabulous glass-walled penthouse in Tribeca. The SI Swimsuit Issue cover girl’s new pad runs a stout $30K per month, but the top floor of the Zinc Building is a knockout location.
The building’s units are designed as transparent lofts, and, as a penthouse, Brinkley’s rental stands as the last word of the design ethos: glass, and lots of it, and a wide-open common living area. Support columns lend a little utilitarian-industrial cred to the understated flash, which is strongly represented by matte-finished hardwood, a strong sense of angularity which claims the fireplace as its locus, and a simple, ornament-free execution.
The duplex’s 3,000 square feet of living space include a first floor which is almost entirely dedicated to the master suite. Here we find a pair of closets, and a large bath centered by a raised soaking tub. The media room, and two additional bedrooms, occupy the other half of the floor.
The upper floor contains the wide-open living space, which is expressed as a giant sunroom for optimism galore on the grayest day. A pair of outdoor terraces extends the living area by 859 square feet, with views overlooking the Hudson.
Brinkley’s two estates on Long Island remain for sale at $30 million and $20 million. They are pictured below.
