Amazon Tests Smartwatch Market With Low-Cost ‘Amazfit’ Model

In addition to expanding its smarthome tech line, Amazon is in the process of testing its new Amazfit Bip smartwatch.

Similar in style to the Apple Watch, Amazon’s first foray into wearable tech presents consumers with the typical Amazon combination: an impressive feature set and a slick aesthetic, all at a very competitive price point.

In addition to packing standard smartwatch features like a heart rate sensor, notifications, and GPS tracking, the new device is able to maintain a single charge for up to 30 days thanks to its 190 mAh battery. If the user reduces the number of notifications received, it can actually run on a single charge for up to 45 days.

Other advanced features include a three-axis accelerometer, a barometer, a built-in compass, and a 1.28-inch color touchscreen protected by a layer of tough, 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass. Although the Amazfit Bip’s software might not be as advanced as its competitors, it is waterproof and more than capable of tracking workouts and keeping wearers up-to-date with essential notifications.

Considering all that Amazon has packed into this little wearable, the $99 retail is quite reasonable. Something tells us the new Amazfit Bip just might to be a hit.
