Dodgers Righty Kenley Jansen Closes on a $6.5M Mansion in Palos Verdes Estates

MLB player Kenley Jansen is settling into a new home in Palos Verdes Estates for the holidays. The Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher paid $6.5 million for the home, which had been on the market since July; it was listed with an initial asking price of $7.2 million, but the price had been amended to $6.9 million prior to the sale.

The house dates to 2005, and is designed as an Mediterranean villa with a comprehensive interpretation of luxury. The exterior sprawls to incorporate an extensive array of outdoor leisure possibilities, with terraces, outdoor dining and lounging areas, lawns, and a pool all packed into the half acre lot.

The house measures 6,900 square feet, and features interior architecture which is extremely stylized. The ceilings are frequently dramatically coffered—although the formal dining room is crowned by a domed ceiling—and the inlaid stone floors are as anxious to impress. The design influences are Spanish and Italian, with soft arches blending with ornamental columns and crown moldings. Wrought-iron light fixtures and stair balustrade enhance the historical look, and the paneled library drives home the interior’s aspirations.

The home contains five bedrooms and seven baths; the medieval guestroom with harlequin wallpaper and period light fixture is an unexpected curiosity. The home also includes a sauna, a steam room, an entertainment room with wet bar, wine cellar, home theater, and master suite with private office and deck. The home’s exterior includes a summer kitchen, and views of the city and ocean are lovely from the hilltop location.

Jansen has played with the Dodgers since the 2010 season. He was featured in MLB All-Star games in 2016 and 2017.
