After a little less than a year of ownership, hockey legend Wayne Gretzky has let go of this investment property in Westlake Village. The fifty-time hat-tricker sold the home at the end of last month, accepting an offer of $3.4 million for a property he purchased for $3.3 million in January of this year.

The home is located within the gated Sherwood Country Club, and sits on the seventh fairway. It dates to 2003, and measures a bit more than 5,000 square feet, with four bedrooms and five baths throughout its two stories.

The home begins—via an arched entryway—with a double-height foyer, a candelabra chandelier, and a lot of warmth; mid-toned plank floors, and staircase and handrail, and warm-toned walls. The living room, which opens on the left side, shows off a limestone fireplace with a wood mantel, wood built-ins, and washed-out periwinkle walls, by way of contrast. The home then moves into the formal dining room, and the kitchen, the natural heart of the house, an open-concept space which incorporates two islands and a peninsula before moving off toward a dayroom and a family room with another fireplace.

Upstairs bedrooms and baths again alternate between warmth and a little cool for visual interest, and the master suite features a private sitting room with a fireplace, and a bath with a steam shower and raised soaking tub.

The property’s seven-tenths of an acre include a pool/spa with patio, formal landscaping, and mountain views.

Gretzky spent twenty seasons as an NHL player. He remains the leading scorer in the history of the League, with sixty standing NHL records to his credit.
