The former Los Angeles-area home of late Oscar-winning actor James Coburn is off the market after selling for $4.4 million.

Located in Sherman Oaks, the Western star’s former digs were constructed in the 1950s and span 7,670 square feet with five bedrooms and five bathrooms. The recent sellers updated and expanded the vine-covered compound set among dozens of trees and lush landscaping.

Inside, a number of spaces stand out including a skylighted great room and a large living space with a wall of glass resembling a greenhouse. Downstairs, the master suite impresses with a large bathroom and opens to the pool area.

The two-story house is set at the end of a long driveway on 2.5 acres including a three-car garage, a gardener’s workshop, and a swimming pool.

Coburn, who died in 2002, sold the home for $865,000 in 1996. He’s best known for bringing his uniquely cool acting style to Sturges classics “The Magnificent Seven” and “The Great Escape,” as well as the “…Flint” Bond parodies, and the adaptation of Russell Banks’ novel “Affliction.” He also remains the only actor to play the role of Dashiell Hammett’s Continental Op.
