Chinese shipyard Ruiying may be a new kid in town, but one of their two new 125-foot yachts is now owned by legendary Hong Kong film star and fight choreographer Jackie Chan. Chan took delivery of the motor yacht about a month ago, in a ceremony in Huludao, where he christened it with a bottle of champagne.
The Ruiying 125 is capable of a top speed of 23 knots, and is powered by a pair of 1,900 HP Caterpillar diesel engines. The motor yacht’s exterior is thoroughly contemporary, with a graceful, sculpted bow and rounded lines.
Chan’s new yacht is also possessed of a thoroughly contemporary interior. The living spaces and staterooms are clad in bamboo; renewable, and also quite beautiful. There’s a great deal of it, and the interior of the motor yacht makes use of it in both utilitarian and ornamental contexts. The natural finish, the natural texture of that particular woodgrain, and the sensibilities it represents, give the yacht’s interior spaces a well-defined identity all its own. Other materials used to distinguish the interior look are chrome, and, by way of contrast, dark leather.
The yacht boasts a helipad, a sauna and a Jacuzzi, and an extensive gym. And, a theater, of course.
Chan’s long career has included turns as actor, director, producer and singer. Last year he took home an honorary Oscar for his ‘extraordinary achievements’ in the industry.
