Luxury watchmakers have long used their beautiful timepieces to pay tribute to important historical figures, and now IWC has introduced a special-edition watch paying tribute to Antoine de Saint Exupéry.

Saint-Exupéry wasn’t only a writer, poet, and journalist; he was also, at one point in his life, a pilot. Because of “The Little Prince” author’s love of airplanes, IWC has created a line of limited-edition pilot’s watches paying homage to the acclaimed writer and fellow flying-enthusiast.

The IWC Big Pilot’s Watch Annual Calendar Edition “Antoine De Saint Exupéry” is as impressive as its name is long with a 46.2 mm 18k red gold case. Inspired by “Le Petit Prince,” the watch boasts a rich brown dial with thick hands, a large conical screw-in crown, and a matching brown calfskin strap.

In addition to nearly 197 feet of water resistance and a seven-day power reserve, the Pilot watch boasts the IWC Caliber 52850 movement that’s on display via the open sapphire caseback.

Limited to just 250 pieces, each IWC Big Pilot’s Watch Annual Calendar Edition “Antoine De Saint Exupéry” timepieces is available for $32,400.
