Hard-rock producer Ross Robinson has listed his longtime home in Venice Beach for sale. Robinson is asking $11.74 million for the three bedroom home; according to public records, it last changed hands in 2000, when it sold for $2.35 million.

The contemporary-style house dates to 1997. The streetside first impression of the four-story statement is of a towering ledge of poured concrete and glass, with glass defining the beach side almost entirely. As expected, though, things warm up a little bit within.

Three and one-half baths supplement the trio of bedrooms, and the house extends to a little more than 4,420 square feet. Interiors are wide-open and bright, with off-white and pale, wide-plank hardwood floors enhancing the optimism. The first-floor living area features an inset fireplace in a rusticated stone accent wall, adding a little overt grit and substance to the composition, and Japanese influence crops up frequently.

Most appealing is the staircase which runs up the side of the home, townhouse-style; the familiar industrial co-opted as luxuriant design brings home the embedded loft-apartment influence embedded in the interior architecture, as well as a sense of scale that is intended to be not quite shy of overwhelming. From below, the geometric clerestories set into the top floor wall above the staircase are an existential punchline straight out of ‘Woman in the Dunes.’

The home’s rooftop deck promises unusually fine views of traditional Venice wildlife; the property features a beachside entrance.

Robinson started his career as a professional guitarist, education for the career to come. His long list of credits includes hit releases by Limp Bizkit and Korn.
