This new drone concept from Mexican designer Edgar Herrera is a beautiful example of the future potential of unmanned aerial vehicles.

Herrera’s bladeless design solves a number of common problems in modern drones. For example, the creator’s new drone eliminates loud noise and doesn’t utilize exposed blades. The Red Dot award-winning drone uses headwind to push air through internal ducts, thus generating vertical lift and thrust.

The center port uses ducted flow to take off and land. The three other propellers assist with direction: the two front units are able to rotate 20 degrees forward and backward, and the back propeller is can rotate 20 degrees clockwise and counterclockwise.

Edgar Herrera’s incredible design doesn’t include any development plans as of yet, but the drone’s advanced technology and trendsetting design will likely attract the backers necessary for production.
