Jordan Griska’s ‘Crash’ Is a Mirrored Steel Sculpture of a Wrecked Mercedes-Benz S550

Artist Jordan Griska has completed a stunning new sculpture out of stainless steel. Based off of a Mercedes-Benz S550, he’s called the installation piece “Wreck.”

Wreck is a disjointed vision of the German brand’s S550. Griska used thousands of pieces of reflective stainless steel, each individually crafted, to create the artwork. The result appears to contain the kinetic energy of a collision, the splintering frozen in time and space.

Griska used a 3D model of the Mercedes-Benz S550 and manipulated it using software in order to map out the shattered resemblance of the car from reflective stainless steel. Each piece was precisely cut and fit together in order to create the unique sculpture influenced by the cataclysm of wrecks.

Eerily beautiful, the installation piece may be considered political, playful, fatalistic, or a combination of the three.
