Kelsey Grammer’s bank account has had a shot in the arm; the actor accepted an offer for nearly nine million dollars for a slick apartment at the controversial 100 Eleventh Ave. building. Grammer had set the asking price of the property at $9.75 million, but accepted an offer of $8.95 million for the condo. He purchased it in 2010, for $6.4 million.

A three bedroom, three and one-half bath unit spanning 3,076 square feet, the condo features spectacular Hudson River views from most rooms, including the three en-suite bedrooms, as well as 11-foot ceilings, a wet bar, and a gas fireplace in the living room.

100 Eleventh was designed by architect Jean Nouvel, and features one of the most instantly recognizable façades in New York architecture; 1,600 different window shapes create a transparent mosaic of form then gives each unit a unique identity. Grammer’s unit, looking out onto the water, offers an accumulation of window shapes that create a dynamic visual effect.

The unit is otherwise fairly unprepossessing in interior design, featuring quartz, Corian, stainless, and a white interior that works with both hard and soft angles for a bit of surprise here and there. The baths are quietly sophisticated, with the luxury of the master bath resting in a separate steam shower and Jacuzzi soaking tub.

The 2007 building features a fitness center, garden, and 70-foot indoor pool.

Grammer’s most recent role of note is the part of Pat Brady in Amazon’s adaptation of Fitzgerald’s unfinished ‘The Last Tycoon’; the film had been previously adapted to film in the 1970’s by Elia Kazan, with Robert Mitchum playing Brady.
