South African company Alu-Cab has come out with a new rooftop tent that allows its owner to pop-up and set up shop without even having to leave their vehicle. This new tent from Alu-Cab is called the Icarus Rooftop Conversion for the Land Rover Defender.

The Defender 110 Icarus kit can comfortably sleep two people overhead; the entrance is located on the roof of the vehicle. Once the tent is up, all the user has to do is open the roof, crawl up, shut the roof again, and snooze.

Another benefit of the Icarus Rooftop Conversion Kit is that it allows for more headroom, making tasks like getting dressed or even just hanging out easier by opening up the roof access hatch. The aluminum kit comes in black, white, and a range of custom colors. The fabric used is 400-gram UV-resistant rib-lock waterproof canvas.

The inside features six lights: four diffused LED units and a pair of stork-type reading lights. The mattress is 7.9 feet long, 4.3 feet wide, and 2.76 inches thick; fairly ideal for two people, and thick enough to possibly be the most comfortable campsite mattress available.
