Television producer and director Christopher Misiano has let go of his Los Angeles home. Misiano accepted an offer of $4.3 million for the property, an English country-cottage style dating to the early 1920’s.

The asking price for the Arthur Kelly-designed house had been about $4.2 million prior to the sale. The property had been on the market for less than two months. Misano purchased it in 2002, for a little less than $1.5 million.

The house’s exterior lines are charming and evocative, with steeply pitched roofs, stucco walls, and plentiful glass, and a porte-cochere giving it a definitive period feel. The interiors measure a little less than 5,500 square feet, with six bedrooms and 5.5 baths across the main house. There is a guesthouse on the property.

The house features a lot of soft lines within. Arched threshholds and a scooped ceiling greet in the foyer; elsewhere, lines are more strident, but the easygoing atmosphere of the layout never really changes. Some renovations have brought modern design elements in to balance out the heady period charm effectively.

The interior composition is pretty simple, timeless stuff: subway tile, plank oak floors, a minimalist fireplace, sets of French doors for a continual sense of flow and invitation. Tones are really nicely balanced, and with cool greys and off-white grounded by the plank oak floors. Hanging light fixtures are unique and striking: variations on incandescence.

The kitchen and the master bedroom, though, deserve special mention: the slab marble in the former is spectacularly figured, and the sense of space and scale in the latter makes the master a real retreat.

The property exterior features a swimming pool, spa, and slate patio across about a half-acre of nicely landscaped grounds.

Misiano’s credits include episodes of ‘ER,’ ‘Law and Order,’ ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ and ‘The West Wing’; he took home an Emmy for his direction of the latter’s fourth-season finale. He is currently working on ‘Ten Days in the Valley.’
