Custom shops have been tuning up Yamaha SR models for a long time now. The model is well suited as a foundation for project bikes. Type 7 designs from Auto Fabrica has really stood out from the pack with unique renditions of the popular Japanese ‘cycles, and their newest SR variant is worth a look.
The Type 7X from Auto Fabrica features influences from the scrambler-style motorcycles of the 1960s and boasts handmade aluminum bodywork. They’ve taken an SR and, this time, created a bike that’s both urbane and fieldworthy.
One of the coolest custom design features is the exhaust. It comes with a unique “upsweep” that was created both for practical and aesthetic reasons. This helps bring the design lines up and blends nicely with the tank and seat.
Along with all of the reworkings and new elements added to the frame and body of the Type 7X, Auto Fabrica gave the engine a complete overhaul, adding in a new VM34 Mikuni carb to increase performance.
The Type 7X will soon be available to purchase on Auto Fabrica’s website.
