Television director and producer Christopher Misiano has listed a home in Los Feliz. Misiano is asking $4.2 million for the property, which he called home for about fifteen years.

The house is an English cottage-style constructed in 1921, and designed by prolific architect Arthur Kelley, who favored the English and Spanish styles, and designed extensively around Los Angeles. It measures a little less than 5,500 square feet, and contains six bedrooms and 5.5 baths.

Having a look at both the exterior and interior of the home, it’s easy to see where Kelley’s architectural sympathies lay. The exterior is straight out of the English countryside, but the interior arches are all much softer than Tudor arches, and have their roots in the Mediterranean. There’s a great deal of glass, including several sets of French doors. A few modernizations—including a redesigned ceiling in the master bedroom—have given the home both contemporary and historical appeal.

The kitchen is spectacular. Long and bright, it feels really expansive, and is ornate only to the extent of subway tile and marble countertops. The original oak floors are a good warming influence, and give the room a little earthiness.

Elsewhere, floors are block tile and, in the bathrooms, variations on herringbone. The master bath, in particular, benefits from the design, and from contrasting tile in the shower; it makes for a refreshing change from the nearly ubiquitous marble-sheathed master baths we’ve come to expect.

The property extends to about half an acre, but manages to work in a traditional pool, a nice stretch of lawn, some artful landscaping, and considerable privacy into the design. The property includes a self-contained and detached guest house.

Although most closely associated with ‘West Wing,’ Misiano’s other directorial and production work includes multiple episodes of ‘ER,’ ‘Perception,’ ‘Suits,’ and ‘Shades of Blue.’
