Ron Howard and his wife Cheryl are selling their New York pied-a-terre. Located in the Eldorado building on Central Park West, the apartment features views of the city, the Hudson and Central Park. Howard purchased the property in 2004 for about $5.5 million; the couple is asking $12.5 million for it in 2017.

The apartment measures about 3,000 square feet, and contains three bedrooms, all en-suite, including a master on the southeast corner of the 26th floor.

From the foyer, throughout the residence, the mood is understated; formality is emphasized somewhat, and ornament is on the lean side. Wood grain and a modern ceiling design mark the foyer, and that tension establishes the tone of the place.

The kitchen breakfast nook gets a little playful, and the butler’s porthole kitchen door is a nice touch. The living room incorporates a fireplace that is fairly stark—an empty canvas of a surround—and bathrooms features some mosaic tiling for a little visual interest. There are more than a few competing textures in the apartment, and they contribute visual appeal, but they don’t take too many chances. Walls are whitewash to muted cool. The paned windows throughout add the charm of homage, and recessed lighting brings a little modernity to the mix. The overall effect is restrained, but comfortable.

Ron Howard’s last directorial effort was 2016’s ‘Inferno,’ adapted from Dan Brown’s novel; panned by critics but wildly popular, the film grossed $220 million.
