French Horologist Lornet Expands into Ladies’ Watches with the LA-02

French watchmaker Lornet has revealed its new LA-02 timepiece. It’s only the second watch the company has produced, and its first ladies watch, but the horological newcomer has some pretty interesting ideas about the hows and whys of design.

Men shouldn’t tune out, though, because the LA-02 shares much in common with the larger Lornet LA-01, the Adam to the LA-02’s Eve.

Lornet watches are crafted entirely in France, including the design, manufacture, and assembly of the timepieces. The movements are made in Besançon, the sapphire crystals come from Morteau, and the presentation boxes and accompanying alligator leather straps reign from Cramans and Orchamps-Vennes.

The LA-O2 comes with a tonneau-like shaped case, measuring in at 41mm in width and length. That’s certainly on the larger side for a woman’s watch, but the design carries it off as assertive, while remaining feminine. The cases are titanium or gold, both paired with rose gold accents.

The watch features a skeletonized dial that offers a peek at the MLA-02 movement, which powers the LA-02. The MLA-02 is modeled closely after Lornet’s debut MLA-01 caliber and offers the same 55-hour power reserve and 4Hz beat.

Lornet asks a little over $5,800 for the titanium version of the watch, and just over $8,500 for the gold example.
