The first time the world saw Sony’s Xperia projector was at last year’s Mobile World Congress, when it was a little-known concept model. Now, a year later, the Sony Xperia Touch has come to fruition.

The device is a multi-faceted take on communication and entertainment; it’s really part Android tablet, part projector, and part smart speaker, all combined into one versatile, easy-to-use unit.

Sony’s new all-in one device can cast media onto walls with a maximum width of 80 inches, though at that size only at a 1366 x 768 resolution.

Another cool design feature of the Xperia Touch is that it can throw a projection onto a horizontal surface and be used as a way to enjoy an interactive game or creative workspace, with the Touch recording finger movements and registering that feedback. This also allows partners to work collaboratively while sharing a screen in the middle of the table.

U.S. pricing for the Xperia Touch hasn’t been divulged yet, but when it comes to the European market this coming spring, Sony will price the projector/tablet/speaker at the equivalent of roughly $1,700.
