Emmy-Winning ‘Veep’ Producer Peter Huyck Spends $2.3M on Hollywood Hills Mediterranean

Peter Huyck has purchased a charming house in Hollywood Hills East. The home sold for $2.315 million, which was very nearly precisely the property’s previous selling price when it last changed hands, in 2014.

The home measures 2,572, and contains three bedrooms and 3.5 baths. Constructed in the 1920’s, the house is designed in the Spanish Revival style; exterior design features include shallow roof with semicircular tiles, incorporated turret, wrought-iron balcony balustrades, ornamental windows, and arched front entry.

The interior features original narrow-plank oak flooring, winding staircase with soapstone treads and wrought-iron railing, and a double-height foyer with wrought-iron lantern chandelier. Some of the home has been renovated, with modern lines and recessed lighting. Ceilings in rustic designs—barrel, open-truss, vaulted—contrast nicely with the whitewash, while rounded arches and inset bookcases balance the more modern updates. Light fixtures vary, from Spanish colonial-style to industrial.

The mosaic tile of the bathrooms appears to be original; generally, the bathrooms retain the historical spirit of the home. The kitchen, on the other hand, has seen a substantial renovation. The bedrooms are en-suite; the master opens onto a generously proportioned balcony, and a guest suite on the first floor has a private entrance and deck.

The property exterior makes best advantage of available space: brick patios and paths, pool, and artfully landscaped grounds make a compact space feel private, and larger than it truly is.

Comic writer Peter Huyck has written for animated television series ‘King of the Hill,’ as well as ‘Frasier,’ ‘The Larry Sanders Show’ and, most recently, ‘Veep.’
