Donald Trump’s Childhood Home Sells at Auction for Undisclosed Price

President Donald Trump’s childhood home in Jamaica Estates, Queens, New York, was in the news last fall, when it was pulled from the market before the election. The home had been initially listed at $1.65 million, but had been slow to sell, and its owners had cut the price, and slated it for auction. The auction was postponed, and the house was purchased by investor Michael Davis for $1.39 million.

Finally—and topically—rushed to auction, the home recently sold for an undisclosed amount almost certainly representing a sizeable profit for Mr. Davis.

The home is an unassuming neo-Tudor built in 1940 by Trump’s father, a developer and neighborhood landlord. It’s a style and size of home common to middle and upper-middle class suburban communities in New York. It measures 2,500 square feet, and contains five bedrooms and 4.5 baths. Four-centered arched portals lend a bit of period credibility to the interior, and hardwood floors add the weight of history.

With white floor tile and pine cabinetry, the kitchen hasn’t seen an update in many years. The rest of the home feels as strictly functional. The house could use a bit of renovation, but may not see substantial alteration due to its associations.

The home’s last listing price had been $1.2 million; the auction starting price when the house had been initially set for auction was reported to be $849K.
