Musicians and formerly married couple Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale have listed their Westside compound estate for $35 million. Initially offered quietly, the listing went service-wide this past week.

Containing main house, guest house, tennis court, playground, and outside bar and lounge with kitchen and fireplace, the complex sprawls across two acres of land in a gated community. There are a total of seven bedrooms and ten baths throughout 11, 845 square feet. There is a home cinema in the main house, and a gym in the guest house.

The interiors of the main home are inventive, provocative, and playful, bringing a distinct mood to individual spaces. Many of the surfaces are striking, but the stylistic accumulation is massive. The interior is so preoccupied with form that an overall sense of restlessness results; with so many competing design elements, the house never seems to settle down into any single identity—surely an expression of Stefani’s interest in high fashion.

The floor of the foyer establishes the tone of the house, with an asymmetrical pattern in black and white marble. All the stone in the house balances artifice and natural pattern; book matched marble fireplaces stretch from floor to ceiling, contrasting with wall and ceiling design. The kitchen, with its hypnotic black-on-white vertical striped walls and marble island, is remarkably formal, as are the marble walled master bathrooms.

Throughout the main living area, and the suite and guest suites, walls and doors open to the property. The guest house gym features glass walls, with one wall opening toward the pool and outdoor living area. The property is designed for an active lifestyle.

Formerly owned by Jennifer Lopez, the home was last marketed and sold in 2006 for $13.25 million.

Gwen Stefani is a successful singer, songwriter, actress, and fashion designer. She co-founded the band No Doubt, and has sold tens of millions of records. She donated $1 million to organization Save the Children in the aftermath of the 2011 earthquake that struck Japan.

Gavin Rossdale is an actor, guitarist and singer. He was a co-founder of the band Bush, and has appeared in several films, including 2005’s ‘Constantine.’

The couple divorced in 2016.
