Leonardo DiCaprio’s Malibu beach cottage has come down in price a tick; initially listed at $10.95 million, it’s been reduced about a million. It entered the market in September. DiCaprio purchased the cottage in 1998, for $1.6 million.

The home is pleasantly—if upscale—bohemian, and located in Carbon Beach. It is 1,765 square feet, and features three bedrooms and two baths. It has been extensively renovated, and evokes traditional beach cottage ambiance: white and washed-out pale blue, soft wood, tile, shiplap, weathered two-tier deck.

Throughout, windows and glass doors open to give the home a breezy feel. A marble fireplace lends a sense of solidity. The kitchen is modern and comfortable. The master bedroom is spacious, with a vaulted ceiling.

The entire second floor is fronted with a plane of seaward windows. There is a partially enclosed patio and lounge area, with a glass door leading to the dining room. The cottage is filled with entrances and exits, and there is a quirky, improvised feeling to the layout. Entrance to the property is gated, and there is a center courtyard for privacy.

Leonardo DiCaprio is an immensely successful actor, and an astute businessman: he invests extensively in Los Angeles and New York real estate. He began his film career in 1991’s lackluster ‘Critters 3’; there was nowhere to go from there but up. He has since starred in films of directors Steven Spielberg, James Cameron, Martin Scorsese, Lasse Hallstrom and Quentin Tarantino, appearing in both big-budget box-office juggernauts, and arthouse classics.
