Kate Upton And Justin Verlander Purchase Pete Sampras’ Former Beverly Hills Home For $5.25M

Engaged couple Kate Upton and Justin Verlander have purchased a lovely gated estate on 1.5 acres in Benedict Canyon.

The property—which has been owned variously by tennis legend Pete Sampras, almost jazz-musician Kenny G, 70’s and 80’s television star Kate Jackson, and a couple of high-profile T.V. producers—certainly has an interesting history. Tastefully understated in the best Beverly Hills style, the design of the house and grounds is steadfastly Eastern in its sensibilities, with lots of California outdoor space to wander.

The interior boasts 5,706 square feet of living space, five bedrooms and six baths, a nicely remodeled kitchen with two marble-capped islands, one of which provides seating for a wet bar. There are four bedroom suites; the master features a pitched ceiling and fireplace. There is a stone New England fireplace in the living room, and French doors opening onto the grounds. A large auxiliary room on one wing has its own entrance. Raw wood beams give the home a nice sense of solidity. Pale hardwood and whitewashed walls lend plenty of reflective light.

The grounds feature tennis court, pool with brick lounge area, stone patios, and stone and brick walking paths. The property makes good use of natural greenery. Altogether, a fairly peaceful retreat.

Kate Upton is a model and sometime actress who has graced the sweltering pages of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition and, more importantly, the cover of Vanity Fair; she has appeared in films ‘Tower Heist’ (2011), and ‘The Other Woman’ (2014).

The happily engaged Justin Verlander—of the smoking fastball—has been a pitcher for the Detroit Tigers since 2005. An enormously gifted player, his compensatory pitching style is unnerving to those on the other side of the plate.
