The newly unretired Landon Donovan will be a member of the Los Angeles Galaxy once again as the team pushes into the MLS playoffs. And after selling an ocean-view parcel in La Jolla, California, he’ll be playing with an extra $2.9 million (hopefully it won’t weigh him down).

Located in the upper Shores area of La Jolla, the half-acre lot comes with plans for a multi-level contemporary home by architect Bill Hayer. Donovan apparently opted not to build the house, though surely not for lack of curb appeal. The plans detail 6,840-square foot home with a many-layered white and gray façade of stacked boxes. Accents include glass rails and Japanese-inspired paneling on the garage and front gate. The plans also include a detached guest/pool house, a dominant, hip-roofed upper story with front floor-to-ceiling windows and a landscaping plan that gives the home a lush, verdant feel.

Already present on the property is a beach volleyball court, and the magnificent location includes ocean views over La Jolla Cove.

Donovan had originally listed the property at $3.65 million when he first put it up for sale last year. Recently, the price had dropped to $3.25 million.

The six-time MLS Cup winner came to wider recognition as a member of the U.S. Men’s National Team. He was awarded the Best Young Player award at the 2002 FIFA World Cup and is the highest-scoring U.S. male player in World Cup history.
