After Remodel, Barry Manilow’s Former Malibu Contemporary Hits the Market at $16.8M

A Malibu home once owned by singer Barry Manilow was recently listed for sale, and the ask is more than four times Manilow’s original purchase price. Back in 2002 when the “Mandy” singer bought the house, it cost him $3.55 million. Now? $16.75 million, which is also quite a leap from the $5.45 million Manilow got for it just a few years ago. The disparity comes from a sleek remodel completed by Domicile Design’s Darren Domingue.

With a street-facing guesthouse above the garage and a walled courtyard entry leading to an aquarium-equipped foyer, the tour starts dramatically and never lets up. Teak cladding gives an ultra-modern look to the guesthouse and the boxy arbor in the home’s front, while walls of glass offer unobstructed Pacific views. A courtyard dining table and living area have counterparts indoors and on the home’s ocean view terrace, and a total of five bedrooms and four-and-a-half baths are spread over 4,200 square feet of space.

Other living areas include a fashionably gray-hued den, a contemporary chef’s kitchen with a pair of islands and state-of-the-art appliances and a gauzy coral-and-white family room with an up-lit tray ceiling.

The master suite includes a stylish fireplace, a sitting area, a desk, private balcony access, a walk-in closet and a bathroom with soaking tub and separate frameless shower.
