It’s not every day that a bike owner gives a shop free range with the design and build of their bike. However, this is exactly what happened with a Yamaha Virago, and the resulting bike is a true masterpiece.
Hamilton, Virginia-based customizers MotoRelic completely took advantage of its creative freedom when a 1983 Yamaha Virago XV500 came to its door. The bike company followed its gut and turned the 30-plus-year-old bike into a copper and black vintage stunner.
MotoRelic began by releasing some of the bike’s mass and stripped the Virago down to its chassis. From there, the true transformation began with the addition of a GSX-R front end, bold oversized tires, and a bespoke distressed leather seat.
Additional tweaks like a new CL350 tank, an adjusted swingarm, a custom muffler, and brand new Biltwell grips helped to give the vintage bike a rugged, steampunk aesthetic.
